Hi all,
I got really sad news a few days ago. I had an awsome mgr when I was a waitress at Chilis, his name was Blair. One of my friends called me to tell me that he passed away on June 11th. The guy was only 36yrs old had been married for about 2 yrs ( he and I used to talk all the time about gettind married and having babies as we both were about to do one or the other I was 6mths prego).
He was the best. He was my boss but made it feel like he was one of us. He would ask you to do stuff not tell you to do it, if you were running behind he would come and help you and not complain about it. He had a very warm heart, was the kindest man I have ever met, and was one of those people who would give the shirt off his own back to help others. He talked about his then future wife and his eyes would shine, he could not wait to have little babies, and he was just happy and full of life.

He passed away on the 11th and his wife had their baby on the 14th. He never got to see his own little baby girl. Sad He would have made a wonderful dad. He was such a wonderful father figure at work. I think I met his wife once so I do not know her at all but feel I should do something for the baby. She named the little one after her daddy. I have an address that you can send gifts too and I would like to make her something that would be touching and let her know how much her husband meant to me and everyone he saw. Any ideas? I would like to make something for both the baby and the new mommy.

thanks  Cry

That's really sad. Sad  I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.

As for something to make, maybe you could tell us what kinds of crafts you know how to do.  It might make it easier for people to make suggestions. Smiley

you may want to do a type of scrapbook or memory book of the babies father. Just that way she will grow up knowing what kind of person he was and not just from family, but from others that new him.

maybe you could have the people that knew hin write letters to the baby about how they knew her dad/ stories/memories of him and what made him special to them .You could then put them in a scrapbook or a decorated box and presnt it to her and her mom. I saw this in a magazine once, people did this for the son of a soldier who was killed in Iraq and I really thought it was a special way to memorialize someone.
Another idea is a photo quilt if you sew and could get pictures, I don't know how hard this would be since you are not all that close to the family. Hope these provide some inspiration, even if you choose to do something else. So sorry to hear of your loss. Good bosses and friends are hard to come by.

I like the letters idea. It's not really a craft but I bet it would mean A LOT to know how much her husband/father was respected and loved. Sorry to hear about the loss, that is very sad.

Something a friend of mine did for her friend's baby (the dad was killed in Iraq Sad)  She asked for one of his old shirts and made a bear for the baby.  Its something the baby can snuggle now and later it will be a treasured memento, both of childhood and her dad.

I'm so sorry about your friend  Cry
