I'm making a kimono based off of one I already have, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to construct the armpit, because it's basically taking 2 rectangles and making them into sleeves. I'm not very experienced with this kind of thing so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I usually sew the sleeves onto the main body before the whole thing is put together (I match up the tops of the shoulders) and then sew up the side seam of the body and across the bottom of the sleeve so the underarm is one continuous seam that makes a right angle right at the armpit.
