I'm trying to put a divider in a purse I'm making for my mom but am at a loss for the correct measurements. The finished size will be 9" H X 11" W and I need it to be 6" D.

Ignoring the flap portion of the tutorial what are pieces C and D supposed to measure and how big would the corner cut-outs be to have the divider placed with 2" on one side and 4" on the other??

Anyone know?

okay, so this is the first time i tried making a purse, and i used your tutorial as inspiration... you made it seem sooo simple to do that i had to try... i love my new purse, and i will put a picture up a little later.  it took me forever to figure out what fabrics to use.  but in the end (after 3 days of fighting with my old as dirt sewing machine, and 1 day of using a new one that my mom got me for christmas, that i was too stubborn to get out of the box sooner)... it was finished and looks like something you would buy out of a store... thanks sooo much for the tutorial!!!

Hi I loved this so much, I made my own version!
But I ran into problems with the zip bit, Steps 5 & 6, really confused me....can anyone post clear pics of what I'm supposed to do?
I eventually just cut the 2inch gap(the bit that makes it square)off....I would really like to try again.....Can anyone help?!!

Thank you so much for posting this tutorial!!  I've always wanted to make a messenger bag but the logistics of it all blows my mind.  All the other patterns I saw online looked like they would fall apart if I put anything heavier than a paperback novel in them.
