So after browsing these forums for the last 6 months or so...I am finally posting.

I've been sewing since I was 7 or 8 thanks to my mom, but I'm just now realizing the potential of reconstructing my current closet and cheap thrift store finds.

I started with 2 silky old lady shirts from the thrift store

and ended up with this fun halter dress

I'm thinking of shortening the purple section in the middle...whaddya think??

Next was a frumpy tee shirt material dress (sorry for the lousy photo)

After a bit of gathering, bunching, sewing...resewing...resewing again...I made a bubble dress! (not very flattering from the rear unfortunately but super comfy)

Got 2 (a pink and a green) long sleeved zip-up sweaters at JCPenney on super clearance. The sleeves were really itchy so i chopped them off...

This is what became of the green one.

Trying to think of something a little different to do with the pink one still....any suggestions??

And the last recon and my personal favorite
Started with a $1 turtleneck (I just loved the print!)

I shortened the sleeves to 3/4, puffed the sleeves at the shoulder and in the middle, gathered the neckline, and gave it 2 seams down the front and down the back.

i love how the neckline turned out...too bad it was somewhat of an accident.

So that's it for now. Thanks so much for looking. Any comments, criticism, suggestions are more than welcome!!

My favourites are the bubble dress and the green and purple one! Have you ever seen that show called "I've got nothing to wear"? I think it's a fairly new show where they have 3 designers raid someone's closet and sew them new stuff using ONLY the old clothes on hand. Your stuff turned out great! maybe you should apply to be on the show Smiley

Man, those are adorable. Especially for being your first tries at recons. I love that bubble dress and the last shirt. And on that first dress, I do think it would look a whole lot better if you shortened that middle part. Everything is cute though, you are very talented!
