Thanks all!

Caine - here's another thread on gathering http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=162279.0

I use the clear elastic, now.  I do just cut it to the tier about, minus a 1/2" or so because it does stretch a little when you pull it out.

However, for my first dress I did use elastic thread, and it did gather, but was still too large (which is okay, better than too small!)  I would recommend using it still, I just pinned it and eased in the extra bulk as I sewed (looks okay to me!)

I'm going to work up a quick clear elastic tute and put it on my tute blog before the weekend, maybe to help out some people who are unfamilar with it.

Hope this helps.

have you posted your altar to elastic in the sculpture section? ;-)
ah, good idea.  And my homage to pins I've busted because I never take them out before I sew a seam.

The dress is beautiful.  I'm sure it will be treasured for many years to come..... I'm thinking I want one in MY SIZE!   Smiley

It is absolutely adorable!  Thank you for the link to the tute, my daughter would love something like that but if I try it I doubt it will be half as beautiful as the one you made, so cute!
