There's Goodwills, Salvation Armies scattered throughout the city (check their websites to find whichever is closest to you).  Metropolitan Ministries has one on Florida (the street is one-way there, though)  Second Image on Kennedy and Armenia is one of my favorites.  It's a little pricier than most thrift store fare, about the level of consignment, but the quality is good, and everything is well organized.  They have a really great selection.  There's also a couple on Busch near Busch Gardens.  Best Thrift is at Busch and 50th, Collection Connection? or something like that is on Busch in between 30th and Nebraska on the South side.
