Today I'm really excited! For the first time I spun some "beaded" yarn. I wanted to do this for a very long time, but never got around to do it.
A few weeks ago a friend gave me a piece of merino/mulberry silk mix. This was by far the softest fiber I ever touched. Yesterday I dyed it and today spun it up with seed beads.
here is a closeup
Because was just a small piece, I plyed it with a white tencel.
I think it turned out quite nice, although I don't know, what I will do with it. Maybe an accent-cuff for some gloves.

"Casino Carpeting"
I dyed this wool with Wilton's Cake Dye...I used black & pink and they separated into soo many colors. I really like it. I plyed it with thread and added dice beads....although you can only see a couple of them in this picture..
"stitched up"
working name. not a fan of it though. although not sure what else to call it.
It's really thing grey yarn with some pale red that's just a little thicker...and then some big red chunks....
I think this was the smallest I've ever spun....
I was wondering....if I was going to suggest a needle size / hook size for this yarn....what would I base it on? The majority of the yarn is really thin....but in 5 different spots it's really thick. So would I want a bigger needle because of the big chunks....or what?

My bf gave me a crazy look when I proceded to dance around the living room swinging my yarn over my head.

Yay Star 217!!! That is very exciting for you. Is your balanced yarn a single or plied? My plied yarns come out balanced but my singles, not so much.

It was plied, but my next hurdle will be a balanced single. I think I'd have to spin super thick to achieve that goal.

How is it even possible to have a balanced single? You have to put twist in it for it to stay together, and since you're not countering the twist by plying it, is it even possible?

I've never heard of a balanced single...seems like it would be pretty impossible just by definition?
I've spun my second skein for the Tour! This little unnamed guy was spun entirely while waiting in line for the midnight showing of Harry Potter on Tuesday. Which we did for 5 1/2 hours. Because Josh and I are geeks like that.
65 yards bulky to superbulky, 100% merino, weight of some sort.

There's the low twist singles, and I've seen singles that barely curl back on themselves when they are off the skien winder. But if a balanced single is not possible then yay for not having to struggle to make one.
