It'll also be interesting to see the number of yards we produce too, along with the weight.
Amy- I totally freaked the husband out with dyed blue hands once. He thought I was really sick!

TheBon - LOL! My husband is used to it by now. I was a Master Fabric Painter and Dyer at our local theatre for a while and it was not unusual for me to be rainbow colored from elbows to fingertips for long lengths of time

I'm going to have the kids I'm teaching dye with Kool-Aid next week and I'm already worried about how I'm going to explain it to their parents when they all go home with stained hands...

It's not weird at all to say, surprisingly.
Knitwit-You could always try rubber gloves, but depending on how old they are I could see how that might not end up working out.

That's what I got done today. 4 oz. Tuesday I dyed the wool....and had been dying to dig into it. lol So I got a very rude awakening from my dog at 4:30am today and couldn't fall back asleep....so I jumped right into spinning. Tomorrow I'm going to ply this puppy.
I have 10 other yarns I'd like it get done through the tour...but who knows. I have to move some time this month so that puts a crunch on things....
I can't wait to see everyone's stuff.

Wow - everybody's stuff is looking great! I'm not going to be participating, as I don't live with my spinning wheel, and I don't really like using the drop spindle. I look forward to seeing more from everybody.

My tour de fleece day one:
Some alpaca spun on my spinning wheel. It's frustrating me a little- it's kinda matted and full of VM. I may work on something else for a while.
Soy silk on a spindle. I love soy silk. I had to clear of this spindle- it already had about an oz of soy silk on it and it was kind of full.
I wanted to give some perspective for those people who may be 'comparing' how much one person does versus another..... Keep in mind what else goes on on a given day. For me Day One had a long drive for a Tiny Nap (and to 'get out of the house!'), playing with said tiny, lunch, dinner, another Tiny nap, a slurpee run, and not to mention just day to day stuff that goes on in the life of a mom, laundry, dishes, oh, and some carding............
Oh, and for the dyed hands? BAKING SODA. No really. It gets dye off everything really well. Hands, counters, sinks........

Good idea. Yeah....I probably won't be having too many days where I can get 4 oz+ done on my drop spindle. I'm taking a couple online classes through my college and I'm moving sometime near the end of the month. lol So sadly I won't be able to sit around and relax with spinning.
Along with spinning I watched a House of Payne marathon (had that on while I spun), BBQed, played a couple hours worth of Rummy, watched Monsters Inc., played Miss Management. Really lazy stuff. lol I need to start busting my butt though.....I hate cleaning apartments for moving out. It's never clean enough.
And I will definitely try the baking soda tip. I wonder if it takes up hair dye. My bathroom sink is spotty.

This is one of the yarns I spun yesterday:
Handcarded superwash merino mill ends in pink, peach, pale sage green, and red, with a ton of recycled sari silk and multicolored sparkle. Plied with red thread. I think it's about 3oz/80 yds. I also spun another 2oz skein that I still need to take pictures of.
I went to the art vs. craft show yesterday (
http://www.artvscraft.com
) and it was very inspiring! I LOVE seeing other people's handspun yarn in person, especially since it doesn't happen all that often.
The whole floor of my room is covered in fluffy piles of dyed fiber waiting to be spun! I'm working on some 100% tencel right now.
