Boo, I'm off to a bad start. I'm away from my wheel and my spindle, I guess I'm going to have to hunt down some cotton balls and make some "yarn" until I can really start.

I've got the first bit of mine begun already!

It's 50/50 Merino/Tencel.  I have a pound of it.  This is my main event for this challenge, I'd like to have enough spun by Monday to knit my friend a caplet for her birthday on Tuesday...  Ok.  So that might be a stretch...

Happy spinning!!

whew, I spun one a ginormous 230 yard, 8.5 oz. skein, thick and thin single ply.  Super plush Falkland wool.  Thank heavens for that bulky flyer!
I alternated long strips of hand-dyed roving with hand-carded batts, so it will stripe when knit.

I also spun some my first two skeins of Merino.  This stuff is so sproingy!

wow! we're off to a great start! And all the yarns are freaking beautiful! I want to squeeze the sproingy. I started on the big braid and then did a green one too. It's all still on the bobbin, pics to come.

I pedaled while watching the time trial today - it was a lot of fun! I was wondering how many pounds of fiber we're going to collectively spin over the next three weeks...? A LOT!

I agree, Knitwit, we will collectively use gobs of wool over the next few weeks!  I'm so tickled to have a chance to participate more this year than I did last year.

I started to practice spinning lace weight with this mystery fiber.  I have no idea what it is, I got it in a swap.

In the closeup you can see that it is a beautiful tweedy blend of some sort

I was not successful at reaching laceweight.  It came out sock weight instead, so I pushed on to my next attempt

Nightshade in Coopworth from Spunky Eclectic

I don't know yet if I have broken the elusive lace barrier, but I did come away with some unusually colored hands  Cheesy

Man do I feel lame...this is all I have.
But it is really even! I'm hoping to make socks for my mom out of this one. She's obsessed with purple. Like weirdly obsessed.  I plan on plying it with a lavender roving I have to go get.
