Embroidered Queen of Hearts

I'm just obsessed with Alice in Wonderland, so this year for my birthday, I'm throwing an Alice-themed party. (Twenty-five years old, and I still love to play dress-up.) I, of course, will be the Queen of Hearts. Maybe I'll even make tarts for my party...



Here's the action shot. I may try to get a better one when I have some daylight. I'm curious as to whether switching out photos is allowed for these challenges. Any thoughts?

I almost forgot to mention the materials: wire hangers, epoxy, fabric, & thread. I may add ribbons, too, so that it stays on my head a bit better.

You could put some loops near the base so you can just use bobby pins to hold it on, instead of a ribbon tie.

Great tiara - looks like lots of fun!

I'm 35 and working on my costume for the Harry Potter book party!
(For the 5th book party my friend (40's) and I were interviewed and in the paper because we dressed up and didn't bring kids)!

Thanks, all! This was a lot of fun to make, so I love hearing that people like it!

I will definitely take pictures at the party. There will be an "Eat Me" cake and lots of friends dressed as various characters. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Thank you, everyone, for all the nice comments! I'm so happy this bizarre little experiment of mine actually worked. Now I can't wait to try my hand and some more wire & fabric sculptures.

I also wanted to say that I have a picture of the crown from the party on my blog. I wound up adding some ribbons to the sides with a little E6000 and a few stitches. However, the crown fit perfectly over my hair when I pulled it all up into a bun, so the ribbon turned out to be mostly for show. I'll be sure to post when I get some more pictures up. I wanted to work a little "magic" on a few of them.

Thank you all so much! It's so comforting that there are so many other "grown-ups" (are any of us really grown up?) that like to play dress up. I can't help but wonder at what point I just need to have children of my own so that I can use them as an excuse to have themed dress-up parties. Nonetheless, I've already started planning for a fairy tale creature party...

I played the white queen in our 2006 production in my senior year of high school.
