Hello craftsters,

I am a knitter, so my shoe making abilities are next to nil.  I was wondering if I could have some ideas on how to execute this project I am working on for a friend: sandals from the movie 300.  I want to recreate the sandals from the movie exactly (or as close as possible).  I need all the straps in all the right places, so I can't just buy them.  I would love any of your ideas! I do not know if construction or reconstruction would work better in this instance.  Here is a picture of what these Spartan sandals need to look like.  This, unfortunatley, was the best that I could do because none of the stills really include feet.  (Better pics that I will be using are in the books, but I don't have a scanner, sorry.)

Welcome to Craftster!

My idea would be to buy sandals that are somewhat close to the ones from the movie, and then possibly buy matching leather/whatever they're made out of, and then make extra straps for them.

Yeah a recon of some sandals would be great. Just go around and see if you can't find the sole of the sandal here on the internet. Sandals are a plenty.

Anywho are planning on distressing the straps, or making the sandals seeming as if they are brand new?

Your link didn't work for me, it just went to the main site. However, I think I know what you mean. I would love to see ideas people post as I have been craving some Greek-esque leg wrap leather sandles myself. If you manage to accomplish it, do post please, with a tute!
