I love fabric. I mean I totally love fabric: the colours, the patterns, the textures. Fabric can be cool and exiting. Or it can be sensual and soft, shiny and sexy, warm and fuzzy, the list is endless.

I love to sew, glue and wrap with fabric.

That being said, when I found this craft challenge this morning I really wanted to enter a fabric tiara. Of course this speaks to my inner craft diva (who quite often takes over my soul), but I had such a lack of time to create.

I decided to make a no-sew fabric tiara. This project was fairly quick. More importantly, it was fun! Plus, I made everyone at work try it on.

So, I sat down at my desk and drafted out two possible versions. I decided on this one.

This was made with two layers of the same light pink floral fabric. In between is a layer of stiff fusible fabric stabilizer and a layer of fusible webbing.

The "jewels" are made with a scrap floral fabric that was doubled up with fusible wedding to ensure the fabric of the tiara wouldn't show through.

I glued the rick rack on with Aileen's tacky glue.

The hook and eye closure (it's adjustable) was created with that awesome new iron-on Velcro. I'd just like to point out that this new product should win an award. Velcro just took their product up about five levels with the iron-on version.

Overall, my inspiration for this (and just about 80% of my projects) is flowers, and the 70's. Hence the floral fabric and the yellow rick rack. Long live rick rack!

I know this isn't a winner... but I just had to contribute.

 Smiley Thanks!!!

I'm at work and the filter here will not allow me to view any photobucket or flickr photos so I can't see most of the entries. Grrr.

I can't wait to get home tonight, pour myself a cup of tea and look at all of the tiaras.
