Yep, this tiara is exactly what it sounds like.  Indeed, it is made almost exclusively of stud earrings which I salvaged from a box of broken jewelry I picked up on eBay.  Most of the earrings were singletons or had some other defect, and I was glad that, even though my ears arent pierced, I was able to put them to good use!
So, the instructions for this project said we had to express something, well, this tiara expresses my queendom over the world of unused and unwanted sparkly things!  Its true, Im a bit of a hoarder, especially with jewelry.  I am simply the queen of salvaged junk!

The studs:

Photos of the front and back of the piece:

The photo of the back is sort of an in-progress shot, which is why it seems unfinished and gluey.  I wanted you to see the back though so you could see that the structure of the tiara is truly made up of the earring posts.

Detail shots!:

Close-ups that you might see the grimy salvagedness of it all!

Photos of tiara on my head!:

A brief overview of my process:  I began with a clear plastic comb, its the kind florists use for bridal hairpieces and such.  I have a lot of hair, and tend to prefer the type of tiaras that comb in to those which simply sit on top of the head.

Next, I gathered my plethora of unloved little stud earrings.  I sorted them by size and color, sticking them into a pillow to keep them in order.  I used super-glue to stick them together (in the arrangement shown below), and then glued the small units to one another until I had built up the basic shape.

I then added the larger clear jewels which I pulled off of an absolutely atrocious necklace with my pliers.  The outward-facing clear studs were added by breaking the earring post off with my pliers, and then nesting the stud in among the other earring posts before gluing everything in place.  The superglue created something of a fog on the larger gems, so I swabbed everything with nailpolish remover as a finishing touch.  Once finished, I covered all the vulnerable areas on the back with hot glue for strength, and then voila!  It was tiara time!

It's beautiful. I really like how you constructed it too. I don't think I could have thought of something like that.  For a tiara made of salvaged stud earrings, this is really nice.

Wow, the construction is so creative, and the result is absolutely beautiful!  It would work for a wedding even.  Such a lovely tiara - Great work!

Oh I love anything recycled or reconstructed!  I have to agree that your construction is ingenious, I never would of thought of that!

Not to mention its gorgeous, it makes me think of finding some special treasure in your grandmas attic and the magical moment that ensues Smiley

Another thing that is great about this is that you did what is most hard to do.  You kept it simple and yet still created something stunning, unique, and beautiful.

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.  That person on eBay could have no idea you'd make something so great from their box of junk earrings!

Since my husband isn't a member, but I got him looking around, I have to post what he said about your tiara.

We were chatting about something or another craft related and he just gets this gleam in his eye and really excited..

"did you see the tiara made out of the stud earrings??!!!??.."

and then proceeded for at least 5 minutes to talk about how wonderful he thought your tiara was Smiley and the construction of it.

He was so impressed (as was I) that how you took each of those little studs to make the bigger parts and just how beautiful it came out.  And he really stressed that the finished product was just awesome! He loved your tiara!

And since he hasn't registered to post (yet) I figured I'd post his compliments here, you really blew him away with your work !
