That is beyond gorgeous!  I am in total awe and in love with it.  My father had Polio as a child, so I'm very fascinated by all Polio related things.

If you ever think about sending it away...please PM me.  I'd seriously kill for that!

Great job.

Thank you.  He had lots of muscle problems, but now as he has gotten older the symptoms reoccur, so he's unable to do pretty much anything :/

I was wondering about that, I don't know much about the actual disease, I didn't know if the symptoms were like cancer symptoms, where they might go away with treatment then reoccur, I know a long time ago it was pretty much permanant right?  Until they got the vaccine?

I'm going to pull my nurse card on this for you,Crafty. Sorry if it's off topic.
Poliomyelitis can be life threatening because it is a paralyzing disease, that is it can paralyze the muscles, all muscles, including those that control the lungs. That's why people were put into "iron lungs" before respirators were invented. It caused a wasting of muscles in the legs and arms-that's why people were in braces. Unfortunately many people who had it as children are now seeing relapses and it has not been completely eradicated in developing countries. I am old enough to remember going in mass groups to get innocculated before they invented the oral vaccine. My mom was involved in the volunteer effort.
Having said that-your ATC actually has a lot of history behind it.

Yes, just as balkandina was talking about.

My father couldn't have gotten the vaccine, it literally JUST came after he developed Polio,  even with the vaccine people still got Polio, with it being experimental.  Polio attacks muscle, with the lungs/heart being muscle my father was put into an Iron Lung for quite some time.  His Polio affected his right leg.  The muscle is essentially dead in his entire leg, leaving it very tiny.  He walked with a severe limp and wore a brace.  My father was treated at a Shriner's Hospital, so to this day I'm extremely greatful of the Shriner's and we donate all we can to support their cause.
