so i saw this yarn, a copper-colored eyelash by lion brand, in the store and thought it would suit my super-glam friend perfectly.

so i knit her up a little boa of a scarf on some hella huge needles (size 50!), and it first it was a little tough to work with tiny little yarn and huge needles, but once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze.

this turned out nicely, with a pretty drape and it's very delicate and girly.  it's also lightweight enough to be worn in the summer.  i think it would look mighty hot with a little tank or tube top and some capris.

more to come...

Did you knit it in stockinette stitch??

nah, stockinette gets on my nerves with all the curling.  i did it in jusdt your basic knit one, purl one rib stitch.

and yeah, fun fur is most definitely aptly named...

Interesting -- I figured you used stockinette to get it to curl into a tube.  Is it less tubular than it appears to be?

actually, it can be laid out completely flat.  by using the big needles and the teeny yarn, it makes it bunch up and drape really nicely without curling.

I love that scarf!!  Where do you get needles that big though?  Are they hard to work with and are they heavy (hurt your hands after a while, etc.)?  I've been wanting a black one out of fun fur!

Where did you find size 50 needles?Huh??   Shocked The biggest I've seen are 35.  I love how it's so spidery looking, kinda like crochet

in defense of stockinette stitch (only for furry yarns):

i find that the eyelash yarns knit up with so little body and so much bulk that they couldn't curl to save their lives no matter how you knit them. they just drape. stockinette or garter is much faster going than rib, and looks about the same when you're done.

awesome boa though! i like how skinny it is.
