I am all about this pattern. I can't wait to knit this up for friends going off to school.

About how much yarn does this pattern take?  The directions say 1 skein for both the double stranded and single stranded versions.

.... so about 60 yards?

So far I have made two, both from the same skein of positively electric orange Sugar and Cream cotton. For about 62 cents a wash cloth, that is definately an economical project! I love the stitch pattern too.

I love the idea of making it into a monster! Lime green yarn is definately now on my shopping list.
