I drew these at the end of March and finally got a chance to take photos of them. They are cards at the moment but I'm thinking of changing them into framed pictures. I drew them from photographs of birds I found on the internet. What do you think?

The crossbill you drew was a female, the males are red.

I think they're beautiful!  I definitely vote for framing and hanging so that they can be enjoyed for much longer!

I love them!  I keep picturing them cut out and mounted on some pretty patterned paper...with a solid border...and distress inks...DAMN I wish I could paint like you!  Will you accept my offer to come live in my basement and draw for me?  No?  I'll feed you... LOL, no, I kid.  They're awesome though, very pretty!

Those are nicely done- I think you should mat and frame them also- more people can enjoy looking at them that way

  Thank you, everyone. I'm sooo glad you like them. And a special thank you to jungrrl for the info on the crossbill.

And to answer the questions: moonshinebluebird, they are painted in watercolours. I was amazed at how clean I worked with them, considering that I'm very messy when I paint. Queen of the Savages, each took about an hour and a half. Yeah, I know, I took my time. lol And CraftyImperfections, the idea with the patterned paper sounds interesting. I'll see how it will look. What do you mean about the distressed inks? And about your offer, be careful what you wish for. I might just accept living in your basement and painting all day. 

Anyway, I was thinking of framing them with solid bright colours for a background and lighter wooden frames also in a similar colour, lightly painted so that the texture of the wood will show through. I think it would give them a modern look because of the pop colours, yet the wood showing through the colour would make them feel naturey.

Also, a few of you mentioned matting them. Would that mean just putting a matted transparent paper on top or is that a special technique?
