Thank you everyone for your kind words. I'm glad you like it! Smiley The toy cows that I found were too far out of scale for this lamp, so I settled on a dinosaur instead. Plus, who knows? Maybe aliens really did abduct the dinos and make them into stew?  Wink

The alien on top was sort of an afterthought, because the "top" of the UFO has a double-stick tape on it (where you would usually adhere the touch lamp to the wall) that I needed to cover and since I couldn't match the exact color of the ship, I needed to do something. I made him a platform covered in tin foil to sit on.

@Antigone - My husband wanted me to add a dome also (and maybe just have an alien head or heads showing) but the only materials that I had would be to take the plastic cover off another touch lamp, and still it would be pretty shallow so the aliens would have to be teeny. No fun!

@bcgrote - I didn't add anything else to the plastic. I used an Avery plastic tab/folder #11906(this is the one I used) and cut the pockets and tab off. The plastic is flexible, but not really "soft". Sorry, I can't describe it very well! But it is sturdy enough to stand up on it's own and hold the shape.

@Infinite Annie - the dino is hanging from fishing line (a loop around his neck) and then the other end of the line is tied across the lens of the lamp (clear plastic). The lens pushes through another piece of plastic in the lamp, so it kind of pinches the fishing line in place. I just realized that I didn't take a picture of the lens part. I will do that tonight and update my Flickr photoset. Smiley

I love this, it made me laugh!!!! The color of the folder and the light are perfect!!! Besides, this fondly reminds me of my X-Files watching days. Great job!!! And thanks for the pictures.

So creative.  I love this.  Like others have said the dinosaur is a nice touch.  The cookbook reminds me of an old episode of the original Twilight Zone. The episode is called To Serve Man. Check it out if you haven't seen it.
