I've been busy lately and this is the only thing I've felted in awhile. It took forever because mixing the different colours of roving together resulted in a large, very fluffy ball and lots of extra pokes as a result. There's black, brown, grey, pink and red in there, with a thin layer of green over the top. It turned out just like I wanted it to, though.

This might be a good sign that I need some kind of horror flick intervention. Comments welcome, though.  Cheesy

i saw one of those pictures on the front page for the forums and was like "what is that"...not what i was suspecting.

but it's pretty neat Smiley what does one do with a horror doll with a needle felted brain? will you close her head up or will the brains be open for everyone to see?

Hee hee. Thanks guys.  Cheesy I wasn't sure how this would go over (which is why I didn't post any pics of the rest of her.)

She's just for display. Just like when she still had her blue eyes and "country maiden" dress. (It's a porcelain doll.) Except that now I'll probably have to hide her if anyone ever brings their kids over. Yes, her brain will remain exposed. She's dressed in a hospital gown, so her bum is exposed too. Poor dear gets no privacy around here.

Thanks!  Cheesy Cheesy  I've seen reconstructed dolls for sale and I've always wanted to make my own. Then my mom found this one in her basement and she was going to throw it out so I snagged it. It was really fun to do. Now I'm on the lookout for more dolls to ickify.

Here are a couple of pics.

There are loads more on this blog. They're more detailed too.

Oooh, it would be a great pincushion. Or even just a head. Maybe glue it to a plate or a saucer.

To be honest, she might get hidden if Mom comes over too. lol

This is so darn humorous and clever. I love the idea of a beheaded, open skull, felted brain pincusion. I want one.

I like the idea for that pincushion more and more. But I don't have any more dolls with no sentimental value... yet!

Thanks.  Cheesy  I kinda figured well, someone was clearly experimenting on her brain and odds are they wouldn't be courteous enough to remove the probes and electrodes and such when they were done.  Now I figure that I probably put way too much thought into it. lol

Believe it or not, I can't find any. I've checked 3 different thrift shops. I went there thinking I'd be able to take my pick. Maybe people around here don't like to part with their dolls.  Roll Eyes

Good call. I'm going to try to find some yard sales over the weekend. If that doesn't work out, I'll start hunting on eBay. I have to say, I kind of like the thought of getting a box of doll parts in the mail.  Grin

i "won" a large box of Barbie dolls from 60's and present the seller bagged them in a black garbage bag  funny in a slightly disturbed way:)

my kids rescue their favorites and i chopped the rest into useable pieces. (your a doll barrette, mutant frog toy, monster yarn) are just a few that i have posted.  the thrift stores around here seem to think un-boxed Barbie dolls are worth a mint i wont spend over $2 for a Barbie as far as antique dolls a thrift store was selling one with hair that was obviously eaten chewed on body that was breaking at the seams it was from late 1950's for $12 insane so i went about on ebay had a field day oh the options are endless!

was thinking for your patient doll how about a pet on a metal leash? half human half gargoyle Smiley the results of a intermingled love affair in the hospital mental ward?

Oh, man. I'll bet he kept those Barbies in his freezer before he sent them to you. (or she)

I do remember cracking up over your monster yarn. Very cool. I recently lost all my Barbies and My Little Ponies to a mildew epidemic in my mother's very damp garage. I'll bet a mildewed arm would have looked extra creepy, though. I wonder if there's some way to paint them to look like that. Maybe I can find like, a Barbeee at the dollar store to experiment on. I figured ebay would be kind of pricey for dolls. Thanks for the tip.

I read that as "pet on a meNtal leash" and thought, wow that's rad. But how? lol  It's still rad. I'm definitely in a needle felting mood again today. I'll have to play around with that idea. Thanks Cheesy Cheesy

since we all seem to be diggin' on the spooky doll thing, thought i'd share mine with you. she's made of french bisque i think and is circa 1920? she's without needle felted brains yet, i've been saving her for ages! got her on ebay for about 2 (about $4) and i think the seller was bummed he didnt make a fortune on her cause he'd been told she is rare lol. she was found in a junkyard here in the uk. apparantly people go digging deep in old parts of the dump (circa 1900+) and salvage antiques from there! not so sure i'd be into that, but i love how the dump has weathered her, don't you? Grin

Oooooh. She's so creepy already. Awesome. I love the missing eyebrow and that little bit of missing pupil on the same side. You don't look at her and think, "Hey, she's missing an eyebrow", it just looks creepy. Whatever you decide to do with her, please make sure you post some pics.

I'll bet you could find some friggin' cool stuff in a really old dump, but yeah, I'd still never want to do it.

My doll has been reborn as a zombie swap spoiler!!! for smarmyclothes. I just couldn't wait to share, I love how it turned out. I figured this would be the most spoiler-proof way.

Same felted brain, she just needed some tweaking.
Be warned, she's even creepier and gorier than before.

Thanks! I think it's the eye. It was the last thing I added and it definitely made a huge difference. Like it actually gives her an expression. Except now... she's watching me.  Shocked  hee hee

Now I totally have to make one to use as a centerpiece. Put a  Santa hat on her for Christmas...  Endless possibilities.

I LOVE this doll!

I visited your blog but it wouldn't let me leave comments - pity as there was a ton of stuff on there I liked - like the needle felted beads and severed finger

I have just started needle felting too - literally had my first play last night - and I can't believe how good at it you got so quickly - I need more practice Smiley
