I'm a newbie, both to the board and to craft fairs. I have my first one in a few weeks, and I was wondering...
Does age make a difference when your at a craft fair? I'm fifteen, and the other people at the fair are about twice my age. Would you not buy because the seller looked too young to be good or anything like that? Or have any younger crafsters had any problems/have any tips? Gratzia!
PS I sell jewellery

OMG I am having the same problem. My friend and I want to go to a craft fair and try selling some of our stuff, but we are only 13. We feel so intimidated. Urgh.

I would buy from you if-

I liked your stuff and you were an approachable seller that would answer my questions intelligently. Your age wouldn't matter to me at all. I could actually be your mom but i wouldn't hold that against you.  Roll Eyes ......now go put a little sweater on sweetie it's getting cold.
just kidding.
Good luck.

If you have your act together, make nice products and display them professionally then I can't think of a reason that people would avoid buying from you.

If I liked your stuff I'd buy it, your age wouldn't effect me at all.

absoultely. If you are business-like, people are really going to be impressed and might buy from you just BECAUSE you are young, but if you were giggly and unprofessional if might deter customers.

A lot of vendors at the Farmers market in my town this summer would let their kids run their stalls, and the kids did fine...just be professional.

Did a semi-large craft fair in my area (i'm 15 and crochet) and people didn't seem to mind my age.  Some of the people, especially some of the older ladies came in and talked to me because 1.  I don't think they were intimidated (you know how it can be talking to an strange adult) and 2.  People were glad to see that I was doing something at a young age and actually had some drive and motivation.

Look professional, smile, and I'm sure you'll do well!!

I started doing craft fairs when I was 15, and the biggest problam I had was that people didn't believe I actually made the stuff I was selling, but they were really responsive when they found out I did! if they liked the merchandise, they bought it! don't be intimidated, you have to get out there and give it a go. it's a great learning experience, dealing with customers and having to answer questions about yourself and your work. even if you don't sell much it's still really worth the time and effort just to get out there and talk to people about what you make. and you never know who is going to come along, I got a big commisioned project when I was 16 from a crappy little boy scout sponsored flea market!

when i did my first fair, i was 15 and another at 17, didn't sell a thing at eather. it must have been the age thing. i was the youngest. but location might be diffrent. there isn't to much want for ANYTHING in montana.
