It's not really a good idea to get started a head of time, you might knit Slytherin when they Gryffindor Tongue

i don't think i'd join if this was limited to a hp scarf swap.... i think the only kind of HP scarf i'd wear would be knitted and i could just knit one for myself... does that sound stupid?
Not to me Wink I think i'd still join, but i'd prefer more than just scarfs...

this swap isn't limited  just scarves, there are tons of harry potter swaps previously, and although scarves have been the popular choice, there were different items being crafted.  I've always made scarves because someone in the swap inevitably wants a scarf.  There are also a crochet pattern for the scarf that i know of.

I also picked up some Harry potter Valentines in anticipation of this swap.

items I've made for previous HP swaps, a house hat, an owl, stationery, decorated toothbrushes, candy, makeup, the possibility is endless really.

Sure most of us could make ourselves HP stuff, but the question is, would you actually get around to doing it? We probably all have a billion other things to do, and would love some HP goodness but just don't have the time. Or maybe want something a bit different?
And the book Charmed Knits has heaps of patterns other than scarves (although I would think you guys know of that already!) And there's also heaps of ideas floating around the net and Craftster. The Leaky Cauldron has a craft section, which is really awesome.

I was going to suggest something along the lines of a HP Scarf (or insert other "large-ish" item here) Swap.
I think maybe we misunderstood this part of what kbauer said Smiley
She made a suggestion, and then people thought she was saying that's what this swap will be Smiley

Yeah, this isn't a scarf swap...if your partner wants a scarf, and you want to make one, then that can be something that you send, but I was thinking that this would just be another "everything about the world of Harry Potter" style swap, so you could make stuff from your partner's fav house, or fav character, creature, book, quote, whatever!  I'll have a pretty in depth questionaire, so we can give each other a lot of info to work with.

I think that the base of this swap will be one large, one medium, and one small item, and then partners can work out if they want to expand or shrink it.

In anticipation for this swap, I decorated a little tote for myself.  I was going to do the knitting one, where it says harry potter and the local snb, but i couldn't flip the image around so that the words will iron on readable, so i opted for a non worded image.

plus it was a good practice piece just in case i wanted to do more totes later, as you can plainly see, one side ironed on better than the other side...

Count me in for this swap! I can't resist a HP swap. I just can't!

Oh yea, and I was just suggesting a scarf. I didn't mean to stir the pot or anything. Cheesy

Also, since we are going to do a large item, I hope that our crafting time will be 3 weeks to a month-ish? If not, that's cool. I'm sure I can whip something up.

Have old jeans, pillowcases, or t-shirts? I'll take them! I'm also always looking for the sleeves to women's long sleeved shirts!
