Apple and Tree believes in the philosophy of re-using before recycling. We make one of a kind pieces using salvaged items as base material and offer authentic vintage fashions.

I live in a very 70's not-so-fabulous rental.  One of the hardest things to decorate around is this very dark and dreary volcanic rock fireplace.  I've been racking my brains how to do something with it that the owner won't skin me for.  Was flirting with the idea of some sort of fire-and-brimstone thing - because of the volcanic rock, but the colors are so dull.  I've been mulling over the idea of building a facade...I think this will work!  I wanted to do a sort of updated Bloomsbury look in living room - perhaps this will be my big project for this summer!  Thanks.

Stunningly gorgeous design, by the way, and excellent cratftstership!

added later:
*I guess you've already decided what to do with the hearth...  I was feeling like you should u se the same colors, or some of them, that you used in the mantel, but in a simpler pattern, so as not to detract from the beautiful design above.

I hope you will post photos when you've finished "phase II".

Awesome! That is absolutely beautiful, I love it. It makes me wish my parents would let me do something like that. Fantastic job.

I want to leave this world like I came into it: screaming and covered in somebody else's blood.

Late or not, I had to put in my bows to your genius. That is simply an amazing feat. And it looks spectacular. Well done!
