These are done on painted silk. I used Audubon prints for inspiration then made them more "design" like. My original plan was to use blanket stitch to render the feathers, but it was too coarse looking. Chain and fly stitch gave me more of the look I was hoping for.

Thank you for looking.

Those look great--did you use beads to detail the feathers?

Yes, I used 15/o Japanese seed beads.
The feathers on the grebe--the copper one--also include porcupine quills.

Super snazzy!  Thank you for sharing!  Does the "ATC" mean that you mounted them on cardstock?  If so, how did you affix the fabric to the paper?

These are so beautiful!  Birds are my favorite animals and I love audubon prints.  I'm hitting the "this rocks" button.

Thank you Sera unraveled. Kiss

Most people don't mount their fabric ATC's. They usually use a thin batting and back the whole thing in fabric. Although, I have seen paper labels stitched to the back too.

I, on the other hand, am still transitioning from all paper stock into fabric for ATC's. So, I laminate (fancy word for glue) the finished fabric image to a paper stock backing. For the glue, I use either heavy gel medium or RollTaq adhesive. My preferred paper to use for this is Canson Mi-Tientes pastel paper. It is good quality, comes in a huge number of colors, can also be used for works done strictly on paper, and it is affordable.

I don't like the underside of the stitching to be seen--too messy. Plus I need a surface I can write the label info on. So, I use the Canson. It can be stitched too if I decide I want that look.

I really love the upper left black and red bird. It's very moody.

I read your manifestos and strange religious tracts.  You took me to your library and kissed me in the stacks.
