Bad Arts (or Crafts) Night

For a couple of years, a friend of mine organized a Bad Art night, similar to this:

The basic premise is that you focus on creating, having fun, enjoying each others' company, and playing with materials. It was a blast.  Toward the end, a lot of my creations involved marabou feathers and sequins.  

At one of the easter themed parties, my friend and I created a "Peep" Show out of Peep bunnies and chicks.  

Other themes includes Thanksgiving, flipflops, aprons, white elephant Xmas (we exchanged white elephant gifts and then decorated them), easter eggs, and father's day neckties.

Schedules got to be too hectic for people in the group, but it's a fun idea for people who have a lot of supplies on hand, and who need a break from being focused on always making a project that is 'good.'

I used to do this once a month with my mom, a couple of friends and sometimes my boyfriend. We weren't very organized about it; we just brought whatever was bugging us to trade and/or whatever was inspiring us to embellish.

I appreciate the reminder, midtowner.   Something I definitely have to do again soon.

this is always awesome for a group of crafty gals.  i get together once a month w/ a group of 15.  we don't just craft.  we change what we do every month.  the first time, we all went out to eat.  just to get to know each other.  we've had game night, Christmas exchange, and we always bring food!!!!!  next time we're going to see a band at a local coffee shop.  then we're going to a rubber stamp shop for a craft night.  it's really a lot of fun.  if you know two people you can start one up pretty quick. that's what my friend did.  everyone starts inviting someone & pretty soon you'll have a regular group.  i definitely recommend trying it out!  i only wish our group did more crafting stuff!!

comfits-we do the same!  it's such a blast.  and we'll often choose someone in need of cheering up to "kidnap"  and then lavish attention on her all evening.  our next one is a stitch 'n bitch night  i highly recommend this practce-so good for the spirit-always lots of laughter and warm fuzzies-oh, how cheesy!
