Acting like some kind of 50s housewife

I have rather a large amount of redcurrants ripening in the garden (it would seem I'm yet to learn the art of pruning Tongue) and a birthday BBQ on Sunday.

Does anyone have any ideas about a lovely dessert I could make? Ideally it would need to be something that would serve a number of people. Sadly my blackcurrant have succumbed to whitefly this year so that puts summer fruit pudding out the picture (I'm loathe to buy them!).

I will probably use some as a topping to Jamie Oliver's marscapone cheesecake but am bound to have a lot left.

Any advice would be gratefully received  Cheesy

I'm so jealous!  I just got the Pie and Pastry Bible by Rose Levy Beranbaum and it has several currant recipes that I'm dying to try.  We grew currants when I was a kid in Iowa, but I never see them at the Farmer's Market or stores in NYC.  The cookbook is kind of expensive, but maybe you can check it out from the library.

I have a recipe for currant, pumpkin, and ginger muffins.  You only need half a cup of the currants though and I'm not sure where you'll get pumpkin this time of year [unless you wanted to use canned pumpkins].
