Here is a top I completed recently after announcing my breakup with the garment industry.  I'm sick and tired of being unable to find cute tops that fit and flatter.  I have a small waist and big boobs (there is a 13" difference between my bust and waist), and it's nearly impossible to find anything besides knits that really works for my figure.  So I've decided that if I want a non-knit fabric top, I'm going to be making it myself.

I had to alter the pattern quite a bit to make it fit the way I wanted it to.  It's a good pattern, very easy to follow and simple to construct.  But it's designed as a pullover with a tie to tuck the waistline in.  A top big enough to pull over my chest ends up with a vast amount of tent-like blousy fabric when it's tied back, so I went ahead and installed deep darts below the bust and down the front, and put a zipper in the side.  I'm very happy with the fit now, and it was kind of fun working out the alterations.

Here it is!  Pardon the expression; I really do know how to smile nicely, I promise.  I was hot and tired that afternoon.  Wink

Adorable top!
I have that problem as well- 9 inch difference for me, but still.  It's annoying, isn't it?
