owl in a Japanese book

I have seen a pattern (in Japanese) for a cute little owl in this forum.
I would love to make one of those. In fact, I am totally new to sewing and I cannot "read" the pattern.
What are the dimensions for the piece on page 2 and how do you get the right shape.
