This is my first attempt at lace knitting. I got the pattern from my knitting stitch bible (love that book). It's called lace wheels. Once I got used to it I found it easy. In the beginning though I lost my place a number of times and there was a lot of unravelling. I am putting away the scarf as part of my mum's Christmas.

That turned out lovely!!  And congrats on taking on lace - personally I find it very addicting - at least in the "that looks nice, but it would look even better with lace!" sense Wink

I'm doing my first lacey project too and i'm totally in the unraveling stage! It seems like every second or third row I mess up.
Maybe I'm learning a lot about something or other...

Very lovely!  The white really works with the stitch pattern.  Will you be blocking it?

Thanks for all your comments. My mother has a nasty habit of walking in on my projects that I am making for her. This one was no different. I was in the process of putting it away and had no time to hide it. It got snatched out my hands with a "Oh, what's that?" So she got her pressie 6 months early. So infuriating but I should be used to it by now.

That's what I was like at first too. Don't give up!

Sorry I am a relative newbie to knitting, what does blocking mean?

Blocking is when you dampen the knitting and then stretch and pin it until it is dry.

Here are some good pictures on blocking to see the "before" and "after".
