I got mine from EmilyFlew today!  She sent a wonderful backgammon board journal (with a backgammon instruction illustration attached, but i think it's supposed to be separate? and a way cool checker bracelet with black checkers and pretty blue beads. A great score! Thanks Emily!

Hee, yeah it was supposed to be separate. I always forget that "Ok to wash it" glue stays sticky for, like, ever.

HO-LEE CRAP!!!  Dixie_terror can be my swap partner any time!  I can't believe the bounty of coolness she sent me!  Sorry, but there are going to be a lot of pics:

I can tell you right now that my sister is going to be very envious of my blank book, featuring Peanut the Elephant, who is so very very cute.  I wish you could see that better in the photo. Both covers are made from the board, and some of the inside pages have lovely arty paper.   Here's what I love -- in the instructions for the Peanut the Elephant game, it says under "Object of the Game": "The player with the greatest number of points at the end of 3 games is Peanut's best friend" -- that is SO much better than just winning the game!  Who wouldn't want that??  Cool  Also shown in the pic are some old wooden checkers with the box (future jewelry, I think) and other bits from the Children's Hour combo box o' games -- the little green cards are for "ABC Fishing" and say things like "E is for Elephant".

There are some resin-and-colored-foil things, some are magnets and some have pinbacks (yippee!), and bee-yoo-tee-ful coasters, which are not game-related, but in the Martini Swap, dixie wasn't pleased with the olive coasters she sent -- frankly, I think both sets are awesome (see the Gallery for the olive ones).

excellent cards that were also part of the combo game set.  Again, I wish you could see them better in the photo.  They have characters like Mr. Durkey the Turkey and Woofy the Dog and at the top it shows the sound each makes, i.e. "CAW--CAW--CAW".  I like how "Smarty" the Donkey's name is in quotation marks, like it's meant to be a cruel joke, like he's not *really* that smart  Wink

Really neat little box -- I don't know if you can tell this, but the inside features cut-up Uno cards!  It took me a second to figure out what they were  Grin  I love love love the box!

And just so you see how much I love this kind of vintage game stuff, here is a game I have displayed in my home:

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!

I can't wait to see what everyone else made!

Yes, the first thing I thought when those pictures came up was "Man, I am so jealous of that cool elephant stuff!" (I collect elephants.) Those animal cards with the names and sounds are too cool, and the box is excellent.  What's up with those bizarre non-standard Scrabble tiles??  Shocked

I suddenly have a feeling that I'm sure every swapper has at some time, namely that I'm sorry I even made my stupid lame stuff.  Wink  No, really I like what I made, but great job, Dixie_terror!

Yeah, Marty, I especially thought of you when I read that the one with the most points gets to be Peanut the Elephant's best friend.  I knew you'd like that  Smiley

The Scrabble tiles look a little different because they are tiny tiny Scrabble tiles, I think the kind designed for use in crafting/scrapbooking -- *representations* of Scrabble tiles.

Oh, and don't feel so all alone, because I opened this box and I thought, "Geez, I suck!"  Okay, I didn't quite think *that* -- I really really like what I sent, it just wasn't as elaborate as any of this!

Dixie, how do you make a book like that?  Do you take it somewhere and get them to cut it and drill it, or do you do it yourself?  And if you do it yourself, how?

Thanks y'all. I feel really bad that i made other people feel bad. I just have this overwhewlming obsession with not wanting to be thought of as a lame swap partner, so i guess i tend to over compensate. sorry.

anyway, i thought the game was way cool and knew it had to be salvaged...i still have the box sitting at home...can't bring myself to throw it away yet... the journal was a prebought one with lame pseudo-artistic cover that i removed the covers from and used them as templates for the size and where to drill holes, and i just put down tissue paper on a few random pages. the checkers were indeed for future craftiness, and yup i cheated with the pseudo-scrabble pieces! i think the box was my favorite too, the uno cards look better cut up i think.  Grin
