My mom and I are going to Dragon*Con this year. I decided it was a perfect excuse to make a couple bags for us to use for 4 days. Mom bought me the stuff to make hers first
EDIT : I loosely followed Lia's duffel tutorial : http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=7290.0;topicseen
changing the strap placement (ends for easier carrying) and size (that's a 24 inch zipper, folks!). Oh, and I sewed the lining directly to the pieces. not as pretty, but easier to handle.
Excuse the pictures, but I didn't think to do this until 1am....
Closed with bonus babyhead in the corner!:
Then, I found the tute for the triangle cosmetic bag here : http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=176509.0
(Thank you so much queenofdiy!) And decided to make a matching bag for mom. I didn't have a zipper, so I took a pair of ruined jeans, cannibalised the zipper (which was too small
) and used the leg as the lining. It's not perfect (no zipper foot...and my machine bogged down on the last side, and I didn't catch all the fabric
so I had to go over that later. But, it still is ok. I'll probably use this one.
Outside (which shows the canvas colour of the bags better) :
Inside (with all my crap) :
Mom wants to use a dragon stencil she found with paint, but I talked her into letting me use it with a paintbrush and bleach
Luckily I have scrap left to practice...I used a scrap to paint 'Mom' (was going to do that on the small bag) and it didn't bleed.
If I can, I'll update with that last picture.
Thanks again to queenofdiy, for her fantastic makeup bag tutorial, and Lia, for her duffel bag tutorial. When I have proper materials, I'll make another that will actually do justice to her tute! (Gonna make one with vinyl between the 2 layers for easy cleanup in case of burst foundation) and larger for shampoo and a toothbrush!
