So I was walking down my alley and saw that someone was throwing away a lot of still useable (by my standards) stuff. Here are the 2 sad little chairs I found, waiting for some love and attention

I wood puttied some bite marks on the one on the left...they must have had an aggressive owner!
Then I had an old book called The Color Kittens which was falling apart. I thought I would recon the chair for the son of my friend who is an artist and it seemed a good theme

The chair isn't actually crooked-it's the angle of the pic Tongue I'm going to give it several more coats of polyurethane.

So here are the final pics with some slight touch ups and action shots with my little pal Linc who I made it for.I filled in some white areas and polyurethaned and sanded it MANY times.BTW-Linc is wearing his onesie kilt I made him Cheesy

I'm in love with these!!

Is that just a sponge painting texture you've used with the green paint?

Thanks! I originally wanted to do it solid, but that shows every imperfection. So I sponged the purplex3 and the greenx2. I've got some very cool images for the second chair which I hope to start soon.

About time we see some decoupaged art made by you  Grin.
Very cute and every child will love it.

One tiny suggestion: it is always difficult with text, but if you rip out the text instead of cutting, you will have a softer transition (?), if you know what I mean? Don't hit me, just a thought.

Thanks! I'm actually thinking of painting around the edges of the text (haven't polyurethaned the back yet-I was too anxious to post it Tongue) And I always appreciate input-especially from a decoupage queen like you, Swampdragon Smiley

AAH! That's AWESOME!! I read my Bucko Little Golden Books every night.  I LOVE these chairs!! Next time I see some torn up LGB's at the thrift store, I'll be sure to get them for something like this.  Great job!

The things people throw away...
No complaining, to the contrary, just waiting for lots more people to throw lots more great opportunities away for us to rescue.
