I started belly dancing in March and my first performance was yesterday. I covered a padded bra and felt bedla (belt) with purple panne velvet and hand-sewed beaded trim, coin trim, red velvet ribbon, gold gimp trim, and red cording (w/ acrylic jewels) to the velvet.

I think it turned out wonderfully Smiley

Nice work!
I like the fact that you fully covered the bra. My pet peeve with first time tribal/ tribaret looks is people who leave the straps as is, either because they assume they'll always wear a vest or something covering the straps. It's just not as sturdy or versatile that way. So way to go! Great job.

Thanks!  My teacher stressed the importance of making a "finished piece," and I'm never one to leave something unfinished. Heck, I cut off the stretchy straps and replaced them with grosgrain ribbon. I don't need my D cups bouncing out in the middle of a performance!

I think it's the little gold coin-y things that dangle that really make it pop for me.  Excellent job!  You do your sexy dance with pride!
