Righty-o. New to stencilling, not great at it, but it's fun as hell so it was like....might as well.

So I'm also not big on the putting-my-face-on-things-I-own thing, but I thought it would be cool if there was a profile of me with me hair flowing back on...say, a pillowcase. Now I realize that instead of just heavily editing the hair to make it look fun, I could have (shouldhave, rather) turned my hair into something cool like waves or fire. Buuuuutt I'm not that artsy ^^;. So yeah.  Took a picture (which i stupidly saved over by accident with the stencil--oops), made it two pages wide on www.blockposters.com, printed it out on manilla folders for stencil. Painted rather sloppily and had to pretend that the profile line was supposed to look like that....errr... Roll Eyes hehehe. Impatiently dried it with a hairdryer, aaaaand......ta-da?

How subtle am I... white paint on an off-white pillowcase Roll Eyes [please ignore the very very off timestamps... and my deformed ear  Embarrassed)

i think that looks really neat. i've been wanting to start stenciling for a while  now, i even have stencils i like saved and bought freezer paper and textile medium stuff. yet it all just sits on my craft shelf. one day i'll try. but yours looks good...much better than i think anything i try would Smiley

did the manilla folder work pretty well for the stencil? it looks like the lines came out pretty clean.
they only had huge packs of freezer paper the other day at walmart so i ended up using marker/translucent paper which worked okay but super flimsy of course...
looks good.

it worked pretty well for the purpose -- solid enough, could last a couple of times if you're nice to it. the only thing is that sometimes the edges don't stay down nicely (it could just be my "technique"--sloppy, rushed Tongue) so mine sometimes end up bleeding (like this one did) and require major cleaning up. But if you're nice and good to it, you should get pretty clean lines (the first time i stencilled i was careful, and it worked well)
