I got this idea off of craftster and wanted to post my coasters which will be a Xmas gift this year. I really like the way they turned out, especially with the variations in color from using tiles from different scrabble games. Anyway I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what to use for a coaster holder or if you can think of anything to use besides scrabble tiles for the blank tiles...

hope this works, because this is my first post...

for a holder, maybe you could cut a couple of the tile trays in half and have them sticking up from the corners of a square of wood.  So you'd have to nail them in from the bottom.

those are super cute.

Thanks!

I bought sheets of cork and sticky felt, stuck the felt to the cork and superglued the letters onto the cork. There might be something better to use than superglue, but it seems to work (except it stains the letters if you get it on the wrong side, which i did a little). I have tried tossing them around a little to make sure the letters dont come off and they haven't.  I dont know if it would be a good idea to seal them with something... I wouldn't want to mess up the color.

That holder idea is great! I will have to try it, thanks! I also grabbed half a diskette box from work - if they fit in it i will decorate the box with tiles too.

I am very excited because the coasters fit in the diskette box perfectly! I added cork to the sides, scrabble tiles to the front and covered everywhere else in sticky felt.

I made some of these for the game piece swap.  I did them 4x5 and didn't use cork.  I glued the tiles on felt then squeezed glue in between the tiles so they are still sturdy without the cork.  Thanks for the idea!! Grin

*Tip*  Scrabble is on sale at Target for only like $4.99 and Toys R Us has a lot of other games on sale so I'm assuming Scrabble is on sale too.   Smiley

That is a great idea! If I could find Scrabble bits and some spare wood and sealant, I could do that for my grammie that has everything. GREAT holder as well Smiley
