I'm looking for jewelry ideas for teens.  What's "in" right now.  I can't go the goth route as it's for a Christian charity.  Any ideas?

Try to check out the jewelry sections on Anthropologie.con, express.com, forever21, etc --

Are you going to make jewelry?  There are tons of online suppliers that have sweet silver charms with Christian symbols or words of faith and inspiration that would be nice with some beads and chain.

Keychains, bracelet, and delicate necklaces would be pretty easy and nice things you can make.

Good luck!!

Im in middle school so i feel i can speak on this topic pretty eaisly =] Right not we're very big on this type of necklace and braclets. http://www.claires.com/images/products/22888_200.jpg http://www.claires.com/images/products/11509_200.jpg They come in all colors.   And they'd be easy enough to make

Umm, another easy thing is this type of pendant

They could be made from sculpy

Theese bangles can be made from resin, but thats sorta tricky

What I've been making is shrinky dink charms and attatching them with a jump ring to a simple black cord ajustable knot necklace thing.

what is hot -

from my observations at work (Middle School)

one of the things that is really big is dog tags with stuff engraved on them

big bangling bracelets like pinkpoodle230 posted, all in one color usually but rainbow colored beads or rainbow patterns of beads to show support of LGBT & friends is a big one too

goth doesn't rule out religious - black beads with a silver cross look fab! and fits both trends!

and I don't know if it is a local thing or not but rubber ducks seem to be in, as well as charm bracelets with shoes and sandals on them

I'm curious as to why gothic jewelry would not be appropriate.

In: hearts, owls (birds of any kind, really), kawaii (Japanese word for "cute". Food with faces, cute bunnies, etc etc), ice cream, keys, anchors, pirate ships. Cherries. I guess skulls will not work for you. But they are hot.

I guess the skulls thing is what I think of first as "goth".  Sorry, if I offended anyone by saying "goth" wasn't Christian.  I thought I would address that first as not to put anyone with wonderfuly ideas off.

Yes, I am making the jewelry.  I'm working with an awesome Yahoo group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Online-Angels/) that crafts for charity.  One of the MANY charitable things they do is send out Christmas gifts and stockings to less fortunate children who do not benefit from other organizations such as Toys for tots or Salvation Army Angel trees.  Anyway, I have boatloads of jewelry making stuff and thought that would be a great (inexpensive) thing to make.

BTW, is hemp jewelry on the "not hot" list these days?

Thanks for the great ideas!  Keep them coming please!

I'm in highschool. I lot of the girls I know like necklaces with layers of assorted sizes of beads. Necklaces that are about the right length that they would sit just at or just below the neckline of a scoopneck sweater are in. Beads for necklaces are often black, white, or yellow and opaque. Some necklaces also had beads with lace wrapped about them. For bracelets, charm bracelets are out where I live and have been replaced by knit wristbands and braclets similar to what pinkpoodle230 posted, but in tamer colours. Opaque or semi-translucent chunky beads both work fine. Rings and toerings are out. Dangly elongated 0 shapes are in for earrings.
Think simple, graphic, sophistated, fun.
For blokes, bizarre shelled necklaces are in.

That sounds amazing! So cool you are participating!

I would say that hemp jewelry is kind of "out" right now. Based on the things I see selling in retail stores and on etsy.

Maybe get yourself some shrink plastic and go to town?  Smiley

check out http://fredflare.com and http://delias.com and... I think http://alloy.com.

Hot Topic also sells cute jewels to be inspired by, but you may have to sort through some inappropriate ones as well. Polymer clay foods are really hot, too. If you can do that sort of thing (I totally can't).
