So on Sunday I packed my SnB books and Knit Wit and headed to a lys.  I have planned to make a few items from each book BUT then........I saw Rowan yarns for the first time and the books too!!!!

So I wind up special ordering biggie wool in bohmenian
and plan to make a sweater vest in the color.......my first garment.  This is quite a big step for me and fellow crafsters.........I am freaking!!!!!

I am so nervous and keep thinking OMG it is my $100 vest and that doesn't include my time.  I really think I went crazy and I am losing my mind with stress.

While I wait for my order to arrive I am making the Coney Island Fireworks Scarf from SnB Handbook.  Oh the stress!!!!

Booglass, it won't take you any time to knit with the Big Wool, seriously, you will probably knit it up in an afternoon!!  Good luck with it, and make sure you post a picture when you're done.

Do yourself a favour and don't think of your crafting-for-pleasure in terms of economics. It's deadly. And it goes to show you what a weird and twisted world we live in, that it costs more to make something yourself - without even counting the value of your labour - than it does to buy a similar manufactured thing. Ah, but that's where the ineffible aura of the handrafted comes in...

And scarvelous is right - the big wool will take no time at all to knit up.

Thanks to everyone........I was really getting nervous about it but want the joy of wearing a garment, other than a hat, scarf or wrap, that I made myself.

i share your pain and trepidation!  i could have gone on, blissful in my fiber ignorance, knitting everything in acrylic cheap-o yarns...until the day i first stepped into a real yarn shop.  damn rowan and their delicious feeling yarns!!!!!!  so now, i knit presents with the cheap stuff, and i get the calmer Wink

i'm sure that you won't regret it at all.

Ooooooooooooooooh Rowan Big Wool!!!  I just finished the Dumpling sweater (http://www.jimmybeanswool.com/secure-html/onlinegen/currgen/kits/RowanBigWoolDumpling.asp) for my daughter to be (2.5 weeks until I pop) in the Whoosh colorway.  That rascal knitted up in a jiffy!
