i'm almost finished with this book (a christmas gift for my mom)..

this is a coptic bound book made with her old scrubs (she's a nurse) and fabric glue.
all four embroideries are from Sublime Stitching's Craftopia patterns.

i added a snap to keep the book closed, a fabric bookmark, and pockets for a calculator & pencils & scissors.

i can't decide whether to cover the spine or not.. just to make it look neater.

for the spine:  have you considered those place mats that are made of bamboo, twigs, or wood?  they come bound (the long way) and they stay together after they are cut into strips.  they also have flexability.  you can glue the sides to your the front cover and back cover. you can get many spines from just one place mat, and they are usually about $2-5.

the book looks great!  your mom is a lucky lady!

Wow! I am a quilter and I would love one of those!

*adds project to never-ending list*  Smiley

And I like the spine just the way it is, but that is personall preference I suppose...

That is VERY well done! It looks so lush and useful, too. I've been thinking of making something similiar for my mom, she does merchandising work so she always has to carry a notebook and a folder. Awesome work!

That is AWESOME! I've been working on a similar book for my sister for christmas for cross-stitching... But I might have to incorporate some of your ideas! I'll post a pic when it's done.

And I too like the spine as is.

Great job!
