For a tutorial on how to create plastic bag fabric....go here:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=178442.new#new

I made this bag.  It was a LOT of fun to sew.  It was incredibly easy fabric to work with.  I thought it would make a nice makeup case because it can be wiped out with a damp cloth to clean it.

Flower deatail:

the flower was attatched with hot glue, the rest was sewn on my machine.  I used an overlock stitch to make the edges look neat.  there is velcro to close it.  im really happy with how it turned out.  i am going to try to make a messenger bag next.

very cool.  how srtong is the fabric?  i've been crocheting shopping bags from shopping bags but would love a different take on it.  I'm seeing a lot of water resistant bike gear in my future (here in the pacific northwest everything is about the rain.)

Your bag looks fantastic! Thanks for the tutorial as well. I may try out this 'fabric' to make a lunchbag instead of the usual oilcloth! Great way to recycle aswell!  Wink

It is fairly strong!

I could not tear it with my hands.  i can poke a hole in it with a scissor though.

as long as you are not holding sharp objects, im sure its fine to use to make anything really

Very very cool! I'm making tote bags out of the plastic to go with my knitted and crochted plastic mesh bag to bring things back from the supermarket. I'm also going to make a zippered bag out of this fabric to go with my reusable cotton yarn tampons, to carry them round in Smiley

That is FAR too awesome!  For some strange reason, I love that you can still see the easy button.
