The Bon's big day is Saturday! and my OOT baskets

Woohoo! I just noticed that The Bon's wedding date is this Saturday! Congratulations! I am sure you are more prepared than I could ever hope to be. Have a wonderful day!

And just so I am not violating the Craftster law of "thou shall not post without intent", I'm going to post the evolution of my OOT baskets on here....

I bought some fabulously shaped, but super ugly purple coloured baskets at the dollar store.


I then painted them a lovely shade of green on the outside, and a darker shade of green on the inside.


I will post a picture of them filled with all the snacks, maps, slippers, and goodies, when I get them all ready to be delivered to the hotel. Here is a shot of the handmade coasters I'm doing for each of them. I'm a big time weirdo recycler. The boxes are from brie cheese, that I saved, and painted.


Then, I am doing the felt coasters in different flowers in my wedding colours, green/pink/brown. Each is backed with cork.

Oh, oh!  I have to add OTT baskets to my list.  Ahhh!  Just when I think I'm making a dent, too...

strangely enough, the out of town packages are one of the things i'm most excited about making

MAR, you found those at the DOLLAR STORE??    i guess i have access to crappy dollar stores, or something, cos they only baskets they have are...  yeah.  i won't go there.  but they're bad.

Dollar Tree here has some funky ones like that, I think.

Me either, I wish they were done and filled now!
Here's what I have thus far:
-Maps, each marked and noted
-Directions written out, with phone numbers and pertinent info and addresses
-a list of fun things to do in Chicago for down time
-Farmer's Market listings
-Treats for late night snacking
-Tea in several varieties
-foot soother fuzzy foaming packets
-cheap slippers from IKEA
-baby bottle of wine
-small packet of table water crackers
-stamped postcards of the city
-Chicago visitor's guidebook and fun walking tours pack
-handmade container of felt coaters made in wedding colours and wedding flower shapes
-handwritten "thank you" notes for every person coming in from out of town (ALL DONE!)

Can you think of anything else fun - and cheap - to put in them? I don't want to go crazy, I just want to have something nice waiting for our guests.

If you only have crappy $ stores, check out Target's dollar section. I also got two straw bags from their dollar section, to put the "younger" girl's OOT "basket" stuff in. I think the straw bags were $2.50 each. I love them, they are perfect to throw a book and a towel in and head to the beach!

And on your coasters, did you put anything else in them to make them stiffer or were they just felt?

What does OTT mean?

OOT means out-of-town.  The baskets are for her out-of-town guests when they arrive to their hotels/lodging.
