I got Punky when I was 2 ears old.  he was a quick project made by my great aunt... one of those pre-printed patterns that you just cut out, sew along the edge, and stuff.  for some reason, I became instantly attatched to him, and Punky hasn't left my bed since.

but being so loved for 20 years isn't so easy... his stuffing got all lumpy, his fabric so thin and worn I could clearly see through it, and 2 holes along the seam already.  I've begin to fear for his survival lately... i fear the slightest rough treatment would tear him beyond repair. so I decided to head off such a disaster.

I roughly traced around him onto some soft cotton flannel in appropriate colors, then hand-embroidered the face on one piece.  then I hand-stitched the two halves together with Punky inside, careful not to catch any of his original fabric in the stitching.  believe it ot not, the orange he is now is very similar to the orange he originally was. Now i'm sure he'll last for years to come. Smiley

Man, thats uber cool.
He's so pumpkiny (in a good way)!
I know how it feels to have a favourite toy falling apart in front of your very eyes (bunny! Poor, poor little bunny!)

Smiley  thanks.  kinda bizarre, isn't it... most kids get attatched to a blanket or stuffed animal... i got stuck on a pumpkin pillow ^_^  I feel for your bunny... if it's not too far gone, maybe you can save it like I did Smiley  it's so horrible to see something filled with so many memories wearing away... and not much better to put them where they can't still be touched and loved.

btw: what's your avatar?  it's... freaky.  in that I-can't-stop-watching-it-and-I-don't-know-why kinda way o_O

Yes, i am very, very attached to bunny.... she still sits on my bed.....
I'm not quite sure if i can repair her... her scarf is ultra long on account of the fact that her neck has a circumference of about 3 cm. And it is holey. So, so holey. I think it is time to dip bunny in polyurethane, and place her in a high up glass case. And admire her. Never touch her.
Oh yes, my avatar. You would have no idea of how many people ask me that. I think it's a llama of some form. Maybe a dinosaur. I wonder myself....

that is a sweet story.  good idea to leave him preserved, but enclosed in something to prevent further harm.

It reminds me of my stuffed bear Hemsley. My great-aunt Charlotte gave him to me I've had him ever since I was a baby.
