Great project!
The answer to your question is to use a chain embroidery stitch instead of a chain crochet stitch.

Nice! Did you just wing/create the pattern, or did you follow an existing pattern?

That looks really good!  Did you sew the lining on by hand?  I've been trying to line some knitted things and I'm not sure of the best way to do it.  Great job on the embroidery.

Tobias Fnke: So what are your plans for this evening?
Bob Loblaw: I thought that maybe I would stay in and work on my law blog.

i just made up the pattern as i went, but it is (very) loosely based on the fat bottom bag from snbhh, in the sense that it is done in the same stitch so it would match the bag i made.

Did you sew the lining on by hand?
i used a machine to sew the seams in the lining and then hand stitched it into the pouch using clear nylon thread.

I really like the flower pattern on the clutch. It is very pretty and delicate.

This is really gorgeous, love the colors and that it doesn't look 'kitchy' b/c it's crochet and not knit. I think I might have to try it, though I'm a novice at embroidery type things.  Any chance there is a tutorial you could draw up for the cherry blossom?
