I just finished three out of my dim sum series and I wanted to share them with you guys.
First off is Shrimp Har Gow. It's supposed to be a lot more pink than this, but the camera won't capture the subtlety that is translucent clay. For size reference, the steam basket is about 1 1/4" in width and is also made of clay.
Second is Pork Cheung Fun, the rice rolls filled with oodles of good meats and shiitake mushrooms. :9 The plate is made from clay as well and is about 1 1/8" wide. It's supposed to have a little pool of soy sauce at the very bottom, but it's kind of hard to see with all the cheung fun on it.
Last, but not least, here is my version of the egg custard. I couldn't get the shape just perfect, but these will do for now. xP
Oh how I wish I had some egg custard about now... *sigh*
Let me know what you guys think and what I can improve on for next time! ^___^ (Besides the obvious answer of "those don't look like egg custard tarts! >:T")
---EDIT for MORE PICTURES!
Shu mai - after a million different color combinations, I think I finally got the right color and texture. lol This one took longest because I'm a genius and decided to make the tofu wrapper on the outside BRIGHT YELLOW. >_<
Char Siu Bao - or BBQ pork buns. :9 My favorite! They didn't turn out quite as I had wanted, but more practice will make it better!!
LOL Chicken feet - I hate chicken feet.
That's why I always give them to my dad to eat. People say that it's in the flavoring, but I don't taste it. xP
Baked buns - I'll leave it up to everyone's imagination to decide what it's stuffed with.
Lotus leaf wrapped sticky rice - deeeeelicious. My best friend's grandmother makes these ones really really (and I mean REALLY) well. I tried to get the colors just right, but I'm at a loss as to how to make it look more "steamed leaves" rather than "fresh leaves".
Sesame balls - Filled with green bean (or mung bean) paste is my favorite kind. I don't like lotus seed paste.
Egg Tarts - V 2.0. xP These have a little more slant to them but are still not perfect.
Pan fried dumplings! So fattening yet SO good.
And lastly, a "family portrait" of them all~
Let me know what you guys think! I still have one more piece to work on, but I'm at a loss for what else to make. :x
