Hey, I'm new.

I'm planning on making all of my Christmas gifts this year, and I have the majority of them planned out.  But I have two friends that I don't know what to make, and I think I want to make them something involving the Red Sox since they're wicked obsessed.  Any ideas?

Do a search, or check out the Craftster blog. There are a few projects mentioned.

Unfortunately I never took a picture, but a couple of years ago, I made my friend a green courderoy purse with her favorite player's pic on it.  I printed the pic on computer printing cloth and then sewed clear vinyl on top of it.

glad to see i'm not the only one thinking of this!! I was going to make my boyfriend (also a die-hard sox fan) a felt replica of a vintage Red Sox Pennant like this one:

As for other stuff, I remember seeing in the knitting section of craftster that someone had made wrist cuffs with the red sox "B" logo on them.. alas, my knitting skills are not up to that!

there are a few different Johnny Damon-themed screenprinted shirts I've seen on E-bay that you could mimic at home with stencils. my favorite one says "jesus is my leadoff man"

everywhere in the boston area they have a special edition of Sports Illustrated with some great pictures from the season that you could frame, or modge podge onto stuff. also if you go to www.boston.com they have tons of picture galleries in the sports section you can print out... Might be fun to run one of those through the rasterbater:

Hope this helps and can't wait to see what you make!

Back in late summer, Wal-Mart was selling fabrics with various baseball team logos on them; I'm pretty sure there was a Red Sox one in the selection.

I bought a remnant of the Atlanta Braves fabric, thinking I'd come up with something to make for my sister, who's been a major Braves fan since she was 9 or 10 years old.  So far I've made a checkbook cover, an odd-looking bookmark (it's too big, and the red, white, and blue ribbons at the end seem a little weird for a sports-themed item), two potholders, and a butcher-style apron.  I'm quite proud of the apron; I edged it with red bias tape and made red ties that go nicely with the color of the Braves logo.  And I still have a small piece of fabric left.  I may just give it to her.  I was thinking of an oven mitt to continue the kitchen theme, but I'm not sure I want to do that.  If I finish the sock monkey I started for some unfathomable reason, I may put it in a Braves vest and give it to her.
