you can paint the chime tubes.  I have done it with a brown primer. It doesn't seem to dampen the sound too much.

Very fun idea.

You can use oxidizers on tubing to get a rusty look on metal or a patina (sp?) look on copper.  It is sold in craft stores usually near the paint section.

You can rust most metal in a mixture of half bleach and half vinegar. Don't inhale and do this outside!!

What a great wind chime!  Someone asked about parts.  If you don't have access to a wholesale place a lot of times you can pick up wind chimes in Deals and Dollar Tree for a buck.  I take the parts from them and incorporate them into my own designs!

I made similar chimes for christmas gifts a few years ago, using old silverware for the actual chimes
