Let me just say this first:  WHOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOO!

Ahem.  She is done.  The Bed Jacket from Jennie Atkinson's Romantic Style.  Here you go... I need a smoothie.

The Bed Jacket
Yarn: Farmhouse Yarns Silk Spun Cotton (I don't think they're making it anymore), 7 skeins (200 yards/100 grams), in Butter
Needles: US 8 24" circular
Time: Mid-April to June 20, 2007
Customs: None, I stuck to the pattern on this one.

This would normally go in the KAL thread... but no one looks over there... and I just HAD to share.

Editing to add the original from the book:

Very lovely and very vintage-y looking.  I reeeeally want that book, it looks like it has a lot of good patterns in it.  And yay for one year anniversaries on Craftster!  It's mine also.

That looks fabulous!!  You did a great job.  It's so pretty.  This is on my list out of the book but I know it will take me forever (I'm not really a fast knitter) and I want to do the mid-length version.

Oh my goodness.  That is truly a creation of beauty!!  If I were you, I would be so proud of myself.  I also wouldn't want to keep it sequestered to the bedroom...I'd want to wear it outside and share it with the world!   Cheesy

Could anyone who has this book look up the pattern and tell me the largest size the pattern goes to?

I would like to buy the book because your garment is gorgeous!

That's just awesome and so soft looking and snuggable at the same time!  I have to go to an exam now or I'd spend the rest of the morning gushing over it, but great job on that one.  I love the colour too, more than the original one!

what a gorgeous jacket!  That was one of the only patterns that caught my eye when I flipped through the book, and now yours has made me look twice ... I might have to put it on my ever-increasing "to knit" list.

Bee-yew-tee-full.  This one took a while to grow on me when I saw the book.  I loved the dressing gown, but not the bedjacket.  And then I showed it to my husband who said, "Wow, that's hot," and I started seeing the potential.  Wink  Yours is the first I've seen finished, and I love your color choice.  Great work!

That is truly amazing.  That is the pattern I bought the book for, and now I have some real-life inspiration to make it.  The colour is perfect.  Very buttery indeed.  Love it!

I am constantly in awe of the talents of serious knitters, and always see projects and think "I wish I could knit like that," but this is literally my favorite knitted project I've ever seen!  I may have to dust off my needles and practice!

Congratulations on a fabulous job!  It makes me want to read Jane Austen novels....

Thank you, everyone, for all of the kind remarks.  It makes the knit that much more special, to me anyway.  Thanks!

I took it to my local knitting group and it was adored by all, and I think there are quite a few ladies there who plan on knitting it now.  I was unsure about it, like a lot of you, but it well worth the effort.

And just to let you now, between Mid-April (when I started) to the end, there was a three, maybe even a four week period when I couldn't work on the Bed Jacket because we moved from Iowa to Georgia (and all the hectic, stress that comes with it).  So I hope those considering it will take that into account, you can complete it fairly quickly.

Stunning!  Absolutely stunning!  I don't even know you and I'm so proud of you.  That's incredible that you started it and finished it so quickly.
