My Faux Solder Pendants

Hey guys!  I made these a few weeks back and I wanted to see how everyone liked them and also share. 

Here is my Beg for mercy Lady:

I made them with glass slides, images, and a sticker or two.  then I sealed the edges with glue, and once that was dry, i trimmed them with sculpey, beat the sculpey up a bit to make it look like solder, inserted a jump ring, then baked.  The low temp to bake the clay didn't burn anything because paper doesn't burn at such a low temp.  Then I added ribbon, a chain, and a very cool vintage chain that I made by piecing together a gold necklace that had very ugly beads on it.  Please let me know what ya think, and it was easy peasy!

This is such a great idea. I tried to solder some pendants but I couldn't get it to look smooth enough.

What temp did you bake these at?

Thaks guys! You are all very nice!  I saw the idea on the web somewhere, I just glanced at it while looking for stuff, and later on, I was like, oh yeah, let me try that.  Plus, since i am always dropping markers, paintbrushes, etc on my lap cause I'm a klutz, i figured for sure it would hurt a tad if I dropped a soldering iron on my lap    So I thought I would stick to something somewhat safe.

As for the clay, it's sculpey brand, so i bake it for about 10-15 minutes on 275.  I wrap them in a pillow of aluminun (I can't spell that word at all)foil so that they don't burn.  About halfway through though, I check them to make sure they aren't burning.  Clay smells really bad when it burns and don't use a convection toaster oven/convection oven, take it from me, they just don't work out in my experience.  Some clays differ, so check the package to make sure you don't end up with rubbery goo cause you didn't cook it long enough or toasty baubles from cooking them too long.  But if I can figure it out, anyone can!

Gah! I love those. I love the retro pin-up style! Fantastic job. I really thought the first one was soldered until I read your post.  Such a creative idea. I, personally, cannot do anything with sculpey.
