Star217...you got a ton of great stuff..

Now Balletfreak, how'd you fit it all in the roving?  There was a lot of stuff there, and big stuff at that!!  Amazing!

Don't forget to post pics of the roving all spun or felted up!! Smiley

My first attempts at spinning the cotton roving I received were less than satisfactory.  I have only been spinning for two months and still have loads to learn. Who knew so many adjustments to the spinning wheel were necessary to go from wool spinning to cotton spinning? Duh, I guess that is why the wheel is adjustable!  So after reading every post on Craftster with tips to spin cotton, I was able to spin about a quarter of the roving and be satisfied with the results.

It is very slow going, it is taking me about 30 minutes to predraft less than an ounce of fiber, and about 10 minutes to spin it after drafting.  I am having a little issue with my yarn refusing to wind around the bobbin at times, resulting in fiber so overspun it is coiling up in sections, hopefully some of that extra twist will come out in the plying.

I've just received an AWESOME package from Tarewyn. I'll post pics in a few days when I find my camera.

It contained :
2 beautiful lengths of merino silk roving
Kool aid in a hand made felt pouch
2 large bundles of angelina
Poly fibres
Natural dyed wool locks
wool add ins
Felting needles in a case
Amethyst & peridot earrings
A hand crocheted rose brooch
A craft paper punch
A crocheted cotton bath/dish scrubber
Interesting Buttons
Glass fire beads

It was all wrapped up in a length of silk and secured with an amazaing button. And all the little packages were wrapped in pretty rose paper.

Thanks tarewyn - everything is in my favourite colours & I love it all!

Hurray!  photos!  Here are just a few photos of the delicious fibres sent to me by Velvet Rose.  She got all of the colours just right and I cannot wait to start experimenting with the silks.  .

Thank you again Velvet Rose!
