Oh, this knit-a-long is so inspirational.  I loved the pattern when I saw it in Knitty and thought about making it for my niece who is 10.  Now that I see the progress of the posters here I kind of want to push all my other stuff aside and start on it.  Both skirts are looking great.  I'm going to check with my niece to make sure she would want it and then see about getting the yarn.

steffania,
i love the fall color/brown boot idea...i think that will look great with this pattern. when i finish the one for my daughter, maybe i will start a skirt for me.
here she is today:

on the right by the needle, you can see the 'lacy' scalloped part that my daughter LOVES.

Hi everyone,
here to report progress! I'm thrilled to annouce that i'm no longer in the a/b, i'm a b/c girl now. i've really enjoyed knitting this over the past weekend while louging at the beach!! I'm loving the way the eyelets are looking elisha!! i can just see my first row of them taking shape as i start on the 2nd stripe, my first D. D and i get a long much better than B and i did. here's a link to the progress photo (taken with my delicious new leica!!)

Gudrun-- thanks for visiting us! i feel touched by celebrity! I love this pattern so much. being a child of the 70s it sort of reminds me of the colors and pattern of crocheted afghan that my neighbors always had on their brown 70s couch (yes its a nice memory)...though i'm quite sure it wasn't hemp!!

my daughter constantly asks to see my progress; she is so excited to wear it, especially with her cousin's almost-matching one. Elish'a pace iis certainly keeping me in line!!

These are really beautiful. Maybe I'll make one for myself. I look forward to seeing them finished!

it looks great, optimism! (and especially sharp with the help of that new camera). i really, really love the colors you chose.
so i am facing a small dilemma...i am in my final c section (that sounds like something else) and i am just not sure if the skirt will be long enough. (by the way, i seem to have 41 stitches between each marker?!?) i have counted that there will be an additional 7 rows after the chart...but, hmmm...will that make the skirt long enough to last many many years?

okay elisha, are you taking some sort of back alley turbo knitting performance boosting supplement or something? i'm knitting my little hands off and your are lapping me repeatedly. what's up??

anyway i think we'll have to keep going following the remainder of the size 8 then 10 pattern.  will that work? i guess if those aren't the same it wouldn't be too hard to figure out how to keep going on our own. where is gudrun? maybe she'll come back and advise us!

the painting i made in my mothers group/art class that i did with noah this past year. glad you like it! its the one i tried to send to your phone that time. its hanging in our bedroom so you can see it when you come.

oh right, yes, i agree about the pattern. i have moved into the size 10 chart and it is working fine. i see that we have to repeat a whole cycle of colors to get back to the MC for the finale...this is definitely going to be long enough!
