Fantastic idea!  I was thinking buttonholes on the handles, but this is much easier.  Thanks for the tip!

Thank you, and you're welcome.     I had hoped the elastic would serve double-duty by allowing me to roll up the bag and pull the elastic around for storage.  However, the elastic wasn't stretchy or long enough.  I think if the elastic is much longer, it wouldn't serve the purpose of hanging in the store, so next time I will definitely add pockets.

These are very easy to fold and tuck into a little package.   Just fold the handles down, fold in 1/3s lengthwise, fold the top down about 1/3 then fold the bottom up and tuck into the top.

If that is a clear as mud let me know and I'll take pictures when I get the next one done.

I just wanted to share the ones I've made so far.

I even used them at the store the other day and they were so great! I felt like my groceries were so secure, if that makes any sense. I didn't add the pocket to tuck them into since I figure I'll just leave them in my car or on the same table I put my bag when I come home so I'll always have them.  I love these idea for gifts, though.  I have a picture in my head of five or so of these bags in the same color/pattern (w/ the pocket) all tied up with a pretty ribbon.

Ummm ... sheleibean: I think you posted the wrong picture.  This one is a pic of a fly with a watch.  (Perhaps it's something you made and meant to post elsewhere...? You've probably already been called on this.

I found this tutorial listed on tipnut and have been meaning to try it for a few months now - finally got around to it this evening and 3 hours later I have a fantastically sturdy, capacious and I think adorably cute shopping bag!
