Great idea, and great tutorial!  Thanks for posting!

I wonder if you could make this with a sturdier fabric (cotton duck or canvas, for example) and line the handles and top portion of the bag only (similar to a facing in an unlined jacket)?

I got the inspiration for this bag from here:


....and on the purses, bags, wallets:  discussions and questions board, pfirsch wanted to know how to make a more "finished" bag.  I have also added another feature which allows the bag to be folded up into its own pouch (you will see this further down in the tutorial).
Finding out that you had posted a tutorial was a pleasant surprise this morning. Smiley

What a great shopping bag and JoAnn's is having all their clearance fabric 50% off this week.  Must go buy lots.  Excuse the stupid question but is 1 metre of fabric 1 yard?

I used a conversion site: Results:  1 yards equals 0.9144 meters.
